A Busy Weekend with our Communities!

CAIR-Philadelphia staff and volunteers had a busy weekend engaging with our community members. Below are some highlights!

Friday in Bucks County: Know Your Rights

On Friday evening, CAIR-Philadelphia Civil Rights Attorney Timothy Welbeck and Deputy ED & Education and Outreach Director Ahmet Tekelioglu joined the Zubaida Foundation community in Yardley, PA for a Know Your Rights Workshop.

We were able to discuss key legal aspects of our rights in the workplace, while traveling, and as students among other subjects. Many thanks to Imam Numaan Cheema and the community members for their hospitality!

Schedule a KYR workshop for your mosque/community center!

Saturday in Philadelphia: Islamic Heritage Festival

Our Student Leadership and Advocacy Projects Coordinator Asiyah Jones was joined by Civic Engagement Manager Zeynep Emanet (Swarthmore College) and Tanvi Jha (Haverford College; a summer fellow with us through our partnership with Center for Peace and Global Citizenship at Haverford College) at the Islamic Heritage Festival organized by our partner ICPIC at Penn’s Landing.

We connected with numerous community members and shared exciting news about our forthcoming Muslim Youth Leadership Summit — stay tuned!

Sunday in Central PA: Honored to Serve

Deputy ED & Education and Outreach Director Ahmet Tekelioglu traveled to Mechanicsburg, PA to join Al-Huda Islamic School’s graduation ceremony where, together with a number of community partners and leaders, we were recognized for our service to our Central PA communities.

We were presented a recognition from Governor Wolf. We are honored to serve and grow together with our communities!
