As-Salaamu Alaykum, CAIR-Philadelphia Family,
Since September 2022, I’ve had the honor of working with the InterAct Theatre Company to connect them with members of Philadelphia’s African American Muslim community as they developed the first play in their new Philly Cycle. Together, we opened the doors of our masajid and workplaces for listening sessions, interviewed playwrights, read early drafts, and ensured that the language, humor, and heartbeat of West Philly’s Black Muslim experience stayed on the page.

The result is a world-premiere play that follows Faye Ann, an eager new member of the Nation of Islam in 1962, as her faith, friendships, and city evolve across the decades. The show runs June 6-28, 2025, at the Proscenium Theatre at The Drake (302 S. Hicks St.).
This is the first mainstage production in Philadelphia built with our community — not just about us — and I’m inviting you to be there when the lights come up. CAIR-Philadelphia will be there, and we are proud of our community’s active involvement in this project.

Why Your Presence Matters
Authentic Representation: Every insight you shared, from hijab pins and bean pie nostalgia to how we greet one another, shaped what you’ll see on stage.
Community Visibility: A full house sends a clear message to regional theatres: our stories matter and deserve to be told with care and investment.
Dialogue & Growth: Stay for the post-show discussions. They’re a rare opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and imagine what’s possible next.
