CAIR-Philadelphia Expresses Concern Over Revocation of Temple University Student’s Visa

(PHILADELPHIA, PA, 4/2/2025) – The Philadelphia Chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Philadelphia) today expressed concern over the news that federal authorities revoked the visa of a Temple University student. In an email to Temple University community, President John Fry noted that an international student’s visa was revoked, and the student had left the United States.

While President Fry noted that there was no ICE activity on campus and the university had reached out to advise and support the student, CAIR-Philadelphia noted that aggressive action by universities in the area, including Temple University, has contributed to the vilification of, and eventual harm against, student protestors.

In a statement, CAIR-Philadelphia Legal Director Attorney Adam Attia said:

“While we are not advising this particular student, our legal team has been advising international students and scholars from area universities. This is a critical moment for civil rights in the US and all concerned citizens should be alarmed at such a brazen violation of constitutionally protected activities by the Trump Administration.”

Attia noted that all concerned students should reach out to CAIR-Philadelphia for a consultation and referral to immigration attorneys by completing the intake form at pa.cair.com/report

Last week, CAIR issued a guidance on travel and free speech rights in light of recent developments: pa.cair.com/travelspeechfaq

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
