(Princeton, 11/9/07) – The New Jersey and Pennsylvania chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ & CAIR-PA) conducted a presentation on Islam for the membership of the New Jersey chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP-NJ) on the evening of November 8th, 2007.
“The NAACP-NJ expressed an interest in learning about Islam.” Said CAIR-NJ Community Relations Director, Afsheen Shamsi. “We hope that this will be the first of many such meetings between NAACP and CAIR chapters so that we can learn about each other and from there work together to achieve our common objective of promoting equality and justice.”
“I really enjoyed the presentation.” said NAACP-NJ President Reginald Johnson. “It cleared a lot of misconceptions about Islam and demonstrated that we have a lot in common.”
