CAIR-Philadelphia & Partners Hold Iftar-Seder to Recognize Convergence of Ramadan and Passover

On Sunday, April 10, CAIR-Philadelphia, together with Masjidullah, The Shalom Center, Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, and Interfaith Peace Walk, organized a special iftar-seder to recognize the convergence of Ramadan and Jewish Passover.

Held on Zoom, the program united community members of all faith backgrounds. CAIR-Philadelphia Executive Director Jacob Bender designed a unique Hagadah — the text that sets the order of the Seder — for the evening.

The speakers in the event included our own Asiyah Jones who spoke on racism, Imam Abdul Halim Hassan of Masjidullah, David Heayn-Menendez from PA Interfaith Power and Light, Rabbi Mordechai Liebling from POWER, Rabbi Arthur Waskow of Shalom Center, Adab Ibrahim from Al-Aqsa Islamic Society, Rabbi Julie Greenberg from POWER, Rabbi Nancy Fuchs Kreimer from Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, and Aziz Nathoo from UMMA Charities. During the program, Rabbi Shawn Zevit from Mishkan Shalom and our own Jacob Bender played inspiring musical pieces. The program was co-MCed by Sr. Rachel Baldi and Rabbi Phyllis Berman.

We finished the evening saying: Inshallah! Keyn yehi ratzon! May it be God’s will that our sharing continues!

We encourage everyone to learn more about and support the work of the sponsoring organizations:
