CAIR-Philadelphia Banquet and the Coronavirus

Assalamu alaikum,

CAIR-Philadelphia is closely following the public health concerns of our community and the updates regarding the spread of the Coronavirus in our area. Hence, we are writing to you regarding the status of our annual banquet this Saturday night, March 14.

As of this notice, end of day Monday, March 9, there are no changes to our plans regarding the banquet except the cautionary steps we detail below. Rest assured, however, that CAIR-Philadelphia is diligently monitoring the situation.

If public health officials place restrictions against large gatherings, we will reach back to you with an update regarding the status of this year’s banquet.

In the meantime, in coordination with Springfield Country Club we are making sure all facilities are sanitized and that hand-sanitizers are available on site.

For the health and well-being of the community at large, any persons exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms should avoid large public gatherings. Additionally, anyone who has been traveling in an area that has had a large number of cases of Coronavirus should also stay home.

We expect the community to be vigilant, follow CDC advisories, and help those of our brothers and sisters who are unable to care for themselves. Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.

A few tips to keep you healthy: (1) wash and sanitize hands regularly, (2) limit physical touch when greeting (rather smile, wave, etc), (3) advise those who feel any form of sickness or have compromised immune systems to say home, (4) adhere to any state guidelines that may arise between now and the time of the banquet, and (5) remain calm, allow facts to outweigh fear and heed the advice of local health officials.

As always, we take all necessary steps and place our complete trust in Allah and ask for His protection against all diseases and calamities, ameen.
