Dear CAIR-Philadelphia supporters,
After careful review of recent public health updates in our area regarding the coronavirus epidemic and hearing from many of you in our community, the CAIR-Philadelphia team had to make the difficult decision to cancel CAIR-Philadelphia’s 14th Annual Banquet, originally scheduled for this Saturday, March 14.
As always, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our community, our volunteers, our service providers, and our staff.
We want to be frank with you. This decision will bring a heavy financial burden to our organization and immediate operations. We have an appeal regarding this below and we hope that you will help us overcome this burden.
We have the confidence of doing the right thing – we have put the health of our community first. A gathering of around 900 people carried too much risk in light of recent news.
Please note the following important points:
1. CAIR-Philadelphia will immediately reimburse all banquet ticket purchasers. Please expect an email from our office in the next few days. The price of the ticket covers the cost of hosting the event. Our annual operations are funded by donors at the banquet and our sponsors.
2. As you know, one of the goals of the banquet is to raise funds to cover salaries, office expenses, and operational costs. Our annual banquets are an opportunity to recognize, celebrate, and reflect on our work. It is also the time when we witness the generosity of our community. While we are not going to be able to present our work to you in person, we would like to appeal to all of our community members to support our work at: pa.cair.com/donate/
The electronic version of our annual report that was slated to be distributed this Saturday is available at this link (18MB PDF) for your review.
Finally, please continue to keep in mind the recommendations from CDC and PA Department of Health.
We are grateful for your understanding and for your donations,
CAIR-Philadelphia Board, Executive Committee, Advisory Board, and Staff
