The Honorable Mayor Michael Nutter was a highlight of our 4th annual banquet this past Saturday, April 3. While addressing the audience, he spoke proudly of the religious and cultural diversity present in the Greater Philadelphia Area. He also noted the great relationship that his office has established with CAIR-PA and how CAIR-PA will assist with plans to provide cultural sensitivity training for his core team of officials.

Mayor Nutter then strongly urged local media to be fair and balanced when reporting stories involving Muslims and the religion of Islam, particularly when a Muslim may have committed a crime. He then stated that the Islamic faith not be maligned with the wrong actions of an individual Muslim. CAIR-PA applauds Mayor Nutter for taking a principled stand against bias and for his message of inclusion, equality and coexistence.
