This event is free and intended for late middle school students, high school students, and college students and is a collaboration with CPCOM and YM Harrisburg.

9:00 – 10:00 AM – Session 1: Understanding and Tackling Discrimination
With Ahmet Tekelioglu and Fareba Amani

What would you do if you or someone you know encountered some sort of discrimination – Whether at school, work, or in everyday life? Knowing your rights is essential to ensuring fair and respectful treatment. Join the CAIR Philadelphia team for an engaging and informative workshop that delves into the impactful work of CAIR Philadelphia. Through this interactive session, students will gain a deeper understanding of civil rights and practical tools to address discrimination with confidence and knowledge by solving case studies based on real-world scenarios. 

10:00- 11:45 AM – Session 2: Sacred Activism
With Imam Dawud Walid

How do we balance staying true to ourselves and our faith when it comes to advocating for changes we want to see in the world? In Imam Dawud’s book “Towards Sacred Activism” he discusses general guidance for Muslims living in the West when it comes to engaging in social justice activism from an Islamic perspective. In this workshop we will dive deep into the role of young people in balancing activism and our Islamic beliefs and values.

1:00-2:00 PM – Session 3: Faith in Action: Navigating Professionals and Personal Life as a Muslim
with Shaykh Abdur-Rahim, Brother Bony Dawood

What does it mean to lead with faith in every aspect of your life? Join us for an inspiring panel discussion featuring accomplished Muslim professionals who will share their journeys of balancing personal and professional responsibilities while staying true to their faith. Discover how they integrate Islamic values into their careers, leadership roles, and daily lives. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from their experiences and strengthen your own path toward impactful leadership.

2:00- 2:30 PM – Session 4: Strengthening the Mind and Soul: Mental Health for Muslim Youth
With Dr. Salman Majeed

How can we prioritize mental well-being while navigating life’s challenges? This workshop highlights the importance of mental health for Muslim youth, offering practical strategies to manage stress, build resilience, and stay grounded in faith. Join us for an empowering session on nurturing your mind, heart, and soul in all that you do.

3:00- 4:00 PM – Session 5: From Vision to Impact: Civil Rights and Advocacy in Action
With Omar Mussa and Asiyah Jones

Participants will engage with real-world scenarios that challenge them to apply civil rights knowledge, organize effectively, leverage media advocacy, and manage budgeting strategies. Students will collaborate to develop innovative projects and present their ideas to the group, receiving valuable feedback to refine their work. Outstanding projects may even be awarded a budget for implementation throughout the year, turning ideas into impactful action.
