(PHILADELPHIA, PA. 9/24/2024) – The Philadelphia and Pittsburgh chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Philadelphia and CAIR-Pittsburgh) condemned Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman’s remarks stating he “loved” Israel’s pager attacks in Lebanon that killed at least 32 people and injured more than 3,000, including children.
Politico reported that Sen. John Fetterman said he supports Israel’s recent pager attack on Hezbollah, adding that “if anything,” he loves it.
“I want to be very clear, I thought what Israel chose to do about blowing up the pagers and walkie talkies and after targeting and eliminating membership and leadership of Hezbollah, I absolutely support that,” Fetterman (D-Pa.) said. “In fact, if anything, I love it.”

In a joint statement, CAIR-Philadelphia Executive Director Ahmet Tekelioglu and CAIR-Pittsburgh Executive Director Christine Mohamed said:
“It is deeply concerning for an elected official to endorse this attack that claimed the lives of so many innocent people, including children. This level of dehumanizing discourse will forever be a mark of shame on Sen. Fetterman’s record. When our elected officials start condoning civilian loss of life, our collective moral compass is irreparably harmed. We encourage our community to call Sen. Fetterman’s Washington DC. office (202-224-4254) and register their disdain.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
