(PHILADELPHIA, PA, 7/29/2026) – The Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Philadelphia) today welcomed the arrest of 40-year-old Sean Keenan of Havertown, Pennsylvania, for allegedly leaving racist and anti-Muslim threatening voicemails for Delaware County Sheriff Siddiq Kamara.
According to local reports, Keenan was arrested and charged with terroristic threats after investigators linked him to multiple calls made to Sheriff Kamara’s office and personal lines. The voicemails contained explicit threats of violence alongside anti-Muslim rhetoric, including the phrase “Death to Islam.” Today’s arrest follows earlier reports of threats against Sheriff Kamara, who is the first African immigrant and Muslim elected sheriff in Delaware County, as well as the youngest sheriff in Pennsylvania.

In a statement, CAIR-Philadelphia Executive Director Ahmet Tekelioglu said:
“We welcome the swift work of law enforcement in identifying and arresting the suspect responsible for these vile threats against Sheriff Siddiq Kamara. Swift accountability is essential to sending a clear message that hate-fueled intimidation targeting public officials will not be tolerated. As Sheriff Kamara noted, hatred and violent rhetoric are not distant issues; they exist in our own backyards. We must remain vigilant, stand in solidarity with public servants of all faiths and backgrounds, and continue confronting bigotry whenever and wherever it manifests.”
CAIR-Philadelphia previously condemned the threats targeting Sheriff Kamara.
