Sharif El-Mekki

Sharif El-Mekki is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Black Educator Development. He is a former principal and teacher in Philadelphia schools. He founded The Fellowship: Black Male Educators for Social Justice and served as a founding member of the Mayor’s Commission on African American Males. El-Mekki is also a former U.S. Department of Education Principal Ambassador Fellow, a U.S. Delegate to the International Summit on Teaching and Learning, and the Conference on Integrating Refugees and Immigrants into Schools. He is a well-read blogger of Seventh Ward and podcaster on 8 Black Hands.
