Muslim-American Heritage Month
A Comprehensive Guide for K–12 Teachers, Administrators, and School Communities
We’re excited to announce the release of our guide designed for educators to teach Muslim-American Heritage Month! Over the past decade, more than a dozen states, along with numerous municipalities, counties, and school boards, have adopted resolutions or issued proclamations recognizing Muslim-American Heritage Month.
While different states observe different months, January has become the most widely recognized month to honor Muslim American heritage and contributions, with formal proclamations in states such as New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, and North Carolina.
What’s inside the guide?
This toolkit offers educators a comprehensive guide to building meaningful, age-appropriate programming throughout the month. It is written for teachers, principals, counselors, librarians, social workers, district staff, and all who contribute to creating safe, welcoming, and culturally enriched schools.
