CAIR-Philadelphia is currently offering two paid internship opportunities for undergraduate students (High School Juniors and Seniors are also encouraged to apply). Internship positions will be hybrid (remote plus in person events).

Government Affairs and Research Intern

Description: Work alongside CAIR staff to research CAIR PA legislative priorities, plan events to boost civic engagement within our communities (ex. Muslim Capitol Day)

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and Database development
    • Research CAIR specific legislative priorities
    • Campaign development 
    • Update elected officials database
  • Plan advocacy and civic engagement events such as Muslim Capitol Day and Muslim City Hall Day
    • Provide communication between CAIR and elected officials

Prefered Qualifications

  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google sheets
  • Basic Knowledge of legislative process
  • Event planning/management experience 
  • Be enrolled in a college/university 
  • Previous government or advocacy experience preferred 

Community Outreach Intern

Description: Work alongside CAIR Philadelphia staff to amplify community knowledge about CAIR Philadelphia’s work, make connections with community members/ organizations and share resources with communities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending community events on behalf of CAIR Philadelphia
    • Assisting with information table at events by sharing CAIR Philly resources and events 
    • Amplifying CAIR Philadelphia’s work ,resources, and events
  • Co-Facilitating CAIR Philadelphia led trainings and workshops 
  • Networking with community members and organizations to increase involvement in CAIR events and build partnerships 

Qualifications

  • Strong networking skills
  • Knowledge of CAIR Philadelphia’s work 
  • Verbal and oral communications
  • Friendly and outgoing personality 

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation 
  • Availability on Friday afternoons* and weekends
    • *Attend different mosques for tabling for Jummah services
