WHAT IS THE AAPI POWER CAUCUS?
The AAPI PA Power Caucus began in 2019 as a space for Asian community organizations across Pennsylvania to come together and work towards the statewide civic empowerment of our community. This work together in 2019 and 2020 shone a light on the need for us to better understand both what our Asian and Pacific Islander communities across PA are dealing with, as well as what we want and need from our state government in order to thrive.
Asian and Pacific Islander communities are defined as people hailing from backgrounds in lands eastward anywhere from Palestine to China. Arab-Americans, Turks, Iranians, Central Asian Muslims, Indonesian, Malaysian, Pakistani, Afghan, Indian, Bengali Muslims, and Muslims in East Turkistan and China are all categorized as AAPI communities.
AAPI grassroots organizations from all over PA, including CAIR-PA, are working together to build the first-ever statewide issue and policy agenda for our diverse communities and we need your help! Fill out the AAPI PA Survey below – now available in 16 different languages – to tell us what you and your AAPI community need:
