CAIR-Philadelphia Horrified by Trump’s Anti-Muslim Tweets

(PHILADELPHIA, PA, 11/29/2017) — The Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today condemned Mr. Trump after the president retweeted Islamophobic videos from an anti-Muslim British political leader who has been charged in the United Kingdom with “religious aggravated harassment.”

Said Jacob Bender, Executive Director of CAIR-Philadelphia: “Even among the sordid collection of Trump’s previous attacks on Muslims and the faith of Islam, these three tweets (originating from a British neo-Nazi white-supremacist website) represent a new low in the shockingly open bigotry of the man who now sits in the Oval Office.”

CAIR-Philadelphia believes that the rejection of the hateful ideology implicit in these tweets should not be the sole responsibility of American Muslims, but the responsibility of all public officials and personalities who believe in an America committed to the values of pluralism, freedom of religion, and justice for all.
