The course is open to people of all faiths.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Place: University of Pittsburgh, Posvar Hall RM 5130<br \/>\nDate: Saturday, September 24, 2011<br \/>\nTime: 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M<\/p>\n<p>The trainer will be &#8211; Jihad F. Saleh, MPA &#8217;06, Chairman Emeritus, Black Graduate Caucus, Princeton University. Saleh was a congressional legislative advisor for four years. His policy coverage focused on education. Along with his policy duties, Saleh was the program &amp; outreach coordinator for the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association. Currently he is the government affairs representative for Islamic Relief USA.<br \/>\nThis training is motivated by a desire to improve leadership skills and to\u00a0enhance the involvement of Pittsburgh\u00a0community in social justice activities (local and\/or national levels).<br \/>\nAt the end of the training, the attendees are expected to:<br \/>\na.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Understand the structure and branches of the local and national government<br \/>\nb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be able to identify government bodies\/officials that might be interested in a project<br \/>\nc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Know how to communicate ideas and to present cases\/requests to public officials<br \/>\nd.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Learn potential career path in social justice areas<br \/>\ne.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Come up with a specific meeting plan and plan of a social activity<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe training is expected to enhance the involvement of Pittsburgh Muslim community in social justice activities (local and\/or national levels) through collaboration with the government bodies and other social organizations,\u201d said Azmat Qayyum, president of CAIR Pittsburgh chapter. He also added, \u201cNow is the right time, when we should be engaged in civic matters, more than ever before. It is the need of the hour.\u201d\u00a0Louis Al-Hashimi, president of MSA Pitt said, \u201cThere is an enthusiasm in our youth today to learn the tools of civic engagement, and they are looking for guidance.
