(PITTSBURGH, PA, 7\/6\/2022)<\/b><\/span> \u2013 The Pittsburgh chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Pittsburgh), a chapter of the nation\u2019s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today expressed support for an investigation of complaints alleging instances of bias and misconduct by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Mariani. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/span><\/div>\n
The Abolitionist Law Center (ALC), a local legal rights group filed 62 complaints against Judge Mariani. The alleged incidents were filed with the state Judicial Conduct Board. ALC court watchers reportedly observed Judge Mariani commenting on the physiques of African-American men and allegedly telling one defendant his body was a \u201cweapon.\u201d Judge Mariani also allegedly disregarded those with disorders such as bipolar and PTSD, commenting that “everyone’s bipolar” and \u201ceveryone claims to have PTSD now,\u201d according to the complaint. <\/span><\/div>\n

“We urge the Court of Judicial Discipline to treat these charges with the seriousness they deserve. Our judicial process can be seriously impacted when those in authority are not held accountable or lack judicial integrity.”       <\/span><\/div>\n
