CAIR-Philadelphia Urges Mosques and Muslim Institutions to Take Precaution in Light of National Tragedy

COMMUNITY NOTICE

Asalaam Aalaikum (Peace be upon you),

I’m sure that you are aware of the tragic shootings that occurred at a Sikh Temple in Wisconsin on Sunday and a second arson attack on a Missouri mosque yesterday morning. In light of these incidents, CAIR is calling for increased police protection at Muslims institutions and other houses of worship nationwide.

Within the last few years CAIR has seen an unprecedented rise in the amount of anti-Muslim attacks. American mosques all over the country have been targeted by arson, vandalism and threats.

In order to proactively protect the community, CAIR-Philadelphia urges Delaware Valley Muslim leaders to review advice on security procedures contained in CAIR’s “Muslim Community Safety Kit.” This kit has been developed to better equip the community with the knowledge necessary to protect against anti-Muslim bigotry or attacks and to secure basic rights.

We also call upon mosque leadership to contact local police to provide extra surveillance of mosques through the end of Ramadan and the day of Eid-Al-Fitr.

Thank You,

CAIR-Philadelphia Executive Committee & Staff
